Old cars, new cars
My friend Carolina has got a “Seat 600”. She loves it. It is more than thirty years old. It was her father’s. When he bought a new car in 1976, he didn’t sell it. He kept it in his garage and when Carolina got her driving licence her father gave her the Seat. She has had it since she was twenty years old. She has painted it in different colours. It has yellow wheels, and purple doors. She cleans it every weekend. She even cleans the engine. It looks fantastic and it goes quite fast for its age. The engine goes very well. Four years ago she bought a new car, a Toyota. It is bigger and faster than the Seat and she can travel longer distances and pack more suitcases in it, but, like her father, she didn’t sell the Seat. Now with the speed limit on the roads she uses the Seat more often for short distance trips, because she can’t drive at more than 90 km per hour. She is very careful. She checks the oil and takes it to the garage every three months; she doesn’t want to have a breakdown in the middle of the road.
